Flori Ens BScN, MC, RCC

Flori Ens is a Registered Clinical Counsellor located in Victoria, BC.  She provides counselling in-person and by phone or video.  She as experience in anxiety and stress, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), depression, Gottman level 1 training for couples, trauma and attachment across the lifespan. She also has experience in working with life transitions, spirituality, and grief and loss

Flori comes comes to her counselling practice with a diverse background. Having enjoyed a career in nursing, Flori has a unique perspective- a lens through which to engage with others.  She feels strongly that creating a collaborative, non-judgmental connection with clients helps to create change and healing. With these core concepts in mind, she invites those who feel lost, sad, broken, or simply trying to make sense of their lives, to come and share.

Counselling is different than talking to a friend or family member. It is not always comfortable. It is her  hope, through conversations in the counselling room, you can make sense of the patterns and interactions in your life that are not serving you and a new clarity can be attained. Flori draws on a variety of different counselling approaches, depending on what will work for each individual.  She is drawn to a strength-based or solution focused approach. This method encourages you to access your own capacity and skills to become “unstuck” in your current situation. She also resonates with what is called Family or Systemic therapy because it addresses the problems people present within the context of their relationships.

Certain situations require taking  an existential approach that emphasizes the discussion of issues around meaning of life, death, and one’s purpose. Flori embraces those who struggle with or seek comfort/strength within the context of their faith practices. Narrative therapy encourages people to find solutions to minimize their problems. Stories, that have informed experiences, are explored and you are aided in separating yourself from your problem. This is a respectful and non-blaming approach to therapy.

Flori has a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and a Master’s degree in Counselling (RCC).  She is currently working towards more advanced narrative therapy training.

Flori and her husband have moved to the island from Winnipeg and currently live in the Cadboro Bay area. They have 2 daughters, appreciate and participate in musical activities,  love to hike, kayak and enjoy nurturing friendships.
