Lesley Porterfield is a Registered Clinical Counsellor in Victoria, BC. She provides counselling in person or by phone or video. You will feel comfortable with Lesley’s relaxed, approachable, easygoing personality. Lesley offers parenting support counselling, works with clients who are experiencing relationship concerns, and helps individuals manage stress, anxiety, and/or depression.
If your family is struggling with behaviors that are disrupting, frustrating, and/or causing a break-down of the family unit, parent support counselling can help. Through counselling, you’ll learn parenting and communication techniques. Work with Lesley to find ways to manage your family’s interactions, and gain an understanding of and successfully guide, child/teen behaviors. Lesley has been working with children for over 20 years and has been facilitating The Psychology Foundation of Canada’s ‘Kids Have Stress Too!®’ program for seven years.
As a couple, counselling with Lesley can give you skills to communicate respectfully and learn to live in a relaxed, non-argumentative relationship. Together we get to the root of the reasons you’re not able to communicate then get your message across successfully. We explore techniques to getting along and making your relationship work. After 16 years with her 2nd husband, after her divorce from an unhealthy relationship, Lesley has gained years of insight into what it takes to successfully maintain a healthy relationship and blend a family.
As an individual, you may be struggling to feel well. Working with Lesley will help you learn tools to build resilience and develop skills to move forward. Lesley uses a client centered approach and draws from several theories such as solution focused, cognitive behavioral, and mindfulness.
Lesley is located at 101 – 4090 Shelbourne St for in-person counselling. She also offers ‘Walk and Talks’ which take place on local trails or the beach for those who would prefer to be outdoors.
