Lucia Simoncicova joins Waypoint’s Counselling Team in Victoria
Art Therapist at Waypoint Counselling!
Lucia Simoncicova , an experienced art therapist, has joined our counselling team in Victoria BC. Lucia is an experienced Registered Clinical Counsellor with extensive training and expertise in working with children and youth utilizing Creative Art Therapy. This approach is a form of creative counselling that offers children and teenagers a safe place for expressing their difficulties or overwhelming feelings of anxiety, fear, sadness, anger or stress. It is interactive, offering a gentle and alternative way of self-expression.
Use of creative media in the sessions stimulates brain development and positively affects emotional and sensory development of the child. It also helps to develop healthy coping skills, emotional regulation and self-confidence, thus renewing a child’s sense of safety and happiness.
In a creative session, Lucia will focus on the unique needs of the child or young person. The aim of the session is to encourage creative self-expression through a wide range of creative media such as visual arts, creative writing, poem and story writing, storytelling, and sand-play. This use of creativity opens up a profound way of communication and interaction beyond the limitations of words.
Lucia also has experience counselling adults, particularly in areas of anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief and loss, communication issues, separation and anxiety. She utilizes a variety of counselling approaches including trauma-informed therapy, attachment-based therapy, solution focused therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Lucia’s office is located at 218 – 2186 Oak Bay Ave, Victoria BC
