Fiona Lindquist is a Registered Clinical Counsellor in Kelowna BC offering online and in-person counselling for youth, adults and couples. She has more than twenty years of experience working in the mental health sector helping people with anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, boundaries, youth mental health, first responder’s health, trauma, critical incident stress, grief and loss, relationships, parenting, family issues, and biblical counselling.  Fiona is also on the endorsed provider lists of the British Columbia Professional Fire Fighters’ Association (BCPFFA), Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP), FNHA-FNHB Mental Health, and Focus on the Family.

Fiona’s therapeutic approach is client centered, strength-based, resilience focused and collaborative. Fiona believes that a strong rapport with clients is one of the building blocks to therapeutic effectiveness while clients work toward achieving their counselling objectives, in a therapeutic environment that is compassionate, non-judgmental, and empowering.  In addition, Fiona believes that evidence-based therapeutic modalities are building blocks to therapeutic effectiveness. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family System Therapy, PAIRS for strong marriages, Gottman Method, Solution Focus Brief Therapy, Mindfulness, and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) are the primary modalities Fiona uses in her practice. She is trained to deliver CBT and CBT-i, CBT-D (depression), ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy) and Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD.

After ten years of providing crisis interventions to victims of all types of crime and tragedies, Fiona became a strong believer of Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and early interventions. She is experienced in delivering psychological first aid, debriefing, and defusing immediately after traumatic events to reduce the impact of trauma and to enhance trauma recovery.
