Daman Kaur

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor in Surrey, BC, offering in-person and virtual counselling in English, Punjabi, and Hindi. I work with children ages five and up, youth, adults, couples, and families navigating anxiety, depression, stress, anger, grief and loss, trauma, self-esteem, parenting, workplace concerns, and relationship challenges. I also support clients with premarital and post-marital concerns, life skills, and other significant life transitions. My approach is compassionate, culturally sensitive, and tailored to each client’s age, circumstances, and individual goals.

My practice draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, behavioural and attachment-based approaches, mindfulness, play therapy, and other client-centred techniques. I balance helping clients develop greater insight with practical, goal-oriented strategies and may provide homework between sessions to support continued growth. When working with children, I incorporate developmentally appropriate approaches such as play therapy, Brain Gym, brainstorming, and life-skills training to create an engaging and supportive counselling experience.

I have over a decade of experience in the counselling field and have been practising in Canada for more than three years. I hold an M.Sc. in Counselling and Family Therapy from IGNOU, as well as a Certificate in Guidance from IGNOU. I have also completed training in Grief and Palliative Care through the Surrey Hospice Society. My diverse professional experience has strengthened my ability to work with clients from different cultural backgrounds and stages of life.

I offer in-person counselling at two Surrey locations, both locations are conveniently accessible by bus and SkyTrain. Virtual sessions are also available for clients who prefer the flexibility of online counselling.
