Doug Hilton
, MSc, RCCRegistered Clinical Counsellor
Doug is a Registered Clinical Counsellor located in Esquimalt, B.C. providing in person and online counselling to adults, couples and youth aged 12-19. Doug has been working in the counselling field for over 30 years and loves to help people. He specializes in treating trauma and addictions, but also has extensive experience doing couple counselling and treating anxiety, depression, anger, grief, chronic illness, chronic pain, and family of origin issues. His approach is calm, accepting, and encouraging. He views people as discouraged, not sick.
Doug has a number of clinical tools that he uses to address stumbling blocks along the way. Some of those tools are Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), hypnosis, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (a personality inventory), and Chi Kung (loosely translated to be “energy work” using Chinese medicine principles through meditation, movement, massage and energy healing). Doug is a co-author of the book EMDR and the Universal Healing Tao. The book describes a new approach to releasing negative feelings about events from the past. The approach is also a self-help method. Doug can teach you how to heal your own emotional wounds with a simple, fast, approach that does not require you to relive the experiences.
