Jake McPhee is a Registered Social Worker providing online and in-person counselling in Victoria, BC. He is a compassionate, insightful counsellor with a collaborative approach. He has experience working with people ages 14+, couples and individuals. He has expertise in the areas of anxiety, couples counselling, substance and process addictions, and LGBTQ+ experiences. He has worked with people from a wide variety of cultural, religious and racial backgrounds. He has worked as a crisis counsellor, in detox centres and community mental health teams, giving him a broad range of skills.
He aims to create a space where you can feel safe to explore issues in depth without concern of judgement. He approaches his work with care, empathy and a dash of humour. He recognizes that building trust and rapport are key to effective and enjoyable therapy. He will work with you to create goals that are important to you and that create lasting change in your life. His approach is gentle but straightforward.
Jake works with a variety of modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), ACT, MI and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. He offers conventional office therapy and video sessions, as well as walking sessions in nature if you are located in Victoria.
