Vicki Bright
, MSW, RCCRegistered Clinical Counsellor, Registered Social Worker
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and Registered Social Worker (RSW) offering in-person and online counselling in Burnaby, BC. I work with adults and couples navigating anxiety and stress, depression, addictions and recovery, trauma and PTSD, grief and loss, chronic illness and disability, relationship challenges, self-esteem, and workplace concerns. I have particular experience supporting women, LGBTQ2+ and Queer clients, Indigenous clients, people living with HIV/AIDS and chronic illness, and individuals whose lives have been impacted by complex trauma, abuse, and domestic or intimate partner violence. My approach is client-centred, solution-focused, non-judgmental, intersectional, and deeply empathic, with an emphasis on meeting clients where they are and building on their existing strengths and resources.
My practice draws from nearly 30 years of experience in social work and case management, including extensive work in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. I incorporate approaches based on each client’s individual needs, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), mindfulness, attachment-based approaches, and strengths-based, solution-focused counselling. I also have experience working with couples and continue to develop my skills in this area through ongoing education and training. I frequently access training and relevant courses to ensure up-to-date clinical knowledge and expertise. Depending on each client’s preferences, our work may focus on developing insight, establishing meaningful goals, and identifying practical strategies and resources to support change.
I bring specialized experience in addictions and recovery, complex trauma and abuse, gender-based violence, chronic illness, HIV/AIDS, and Indigenous health and healing. I hold a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Victoria and a Master of Social Work from the University of British Columbia and have completed San’yas Indigenous Cultural Safety Training. I strive to create a therapeutic space where clients can feel emotionally and physically safe, develop trust, and work toward meaningful growth and progress. I offer flexible in-person and online counselling and look forward to connecting with you.
