Direct Billing for Counselling Services
Here at Waypoint Counselling Network, we strive to offer services that are accessible and inclusive. We’re committed to providing a clear and transparent process for billing, direct billing and insurance claims so you can access the support you need to achieve your mental health goals. One of the most common questions we get is “Do you provide Direct Billing to my insurance plan?” The short answer is maybe – but not always. Only some plans in BC offer direct billing for counselling services and those that do typically only cover services provided by a Registered Social Worker.
Step 1: Check with your insurance plan.
You need to determine what counselling designations are covered. We cannot check on your behalf due to privacy limitations. Some plans cover Registered Clinical Counselors, Canadian Certified Counsellors and/or Registered Social Workers. Other plans only cover Registered Psychologists.
Step 2: Let us know what designations are covered under your plan
Once we know that, we’ll do our best to match you with a counsellor who has that designation. While we do not have Registered Psychologists on our team, we have over 20 Registered Clinical Counsellors, Canadian Certified Counsellors and Registered Social Workers ready to work with you.
Step 3: Make sure your credit card details are up-to-date in your online booking profile on Jane App.
To do this, simply login to your My Account Page from the link sent to you in your welcome email. If you can’t find it, don’t worry, just email us at info@waypointcounselling.ca and we’ll send you a new one. If you’d rather we do this for you, no problem! Simply give us a call with your credit card details in hand and we’ll update your profile.
If your plan qualifies for direct billing, we’ll need your insurance details to add to your profile. After each paid appointment, we’ll file a claim and take care of the billing for you. If the claim is rejected or cannot be processed, we’ll charge the credit card on file and send you a receipt so you can try to submit a claim directly to your insurer for reimbursement.
If your plan does not qualify for direct billing, we’ll charge your credit card after each paid appointment and email you a detailed receipt you can use to submit a claim directly to your insurer for reimbursement.
We also offer direct billing through the Metis Nation of BC and Autism Funding. You will have to have approval from those two plans first. We are not able to provide direct billing to ICBC, Crime Victim Assistance Program or the First Nations Health Authority.
Note: Counselling is not covered by the BC Provincial Health Plan
